Interiors

I’m definitely drawn to interiors which feel like a window onto the people who live there and of the life lived. Not necessarily shrines to a particular style or era but more a reflection of loves and experiences, spaces which have a real sense of place and personality. (It’s partly why I chose the name Stedsans for my business, it means ‘a sense of place’ in Danish).

The Eames House, designed by Ray and Charles Eames, in Los Angeles, is just such a space, full of their designs but also of collections of things, the ‘stuff’ of their lives, gifts from friends and family. They saw life as being an act of design and their home reflected this perfectly. Charles described the house as ‘unselfconscious’ which perfectly captures the spirit of the interior. I particularly love the bookcase, where have all the bookcases gone..!

And the outside is just as beautiful..
