CHOOSE YOUR ORIGINAL MIDCENTURY FRAME

We have an eclectic range of Frames for Refurbishment, all of which are available for bespoke restoration.

The designs range from cosy 1930s curved banana sofas through to our clean lined classic 60s designs. We source these original midcentury frames from Scandinavia and they come with authentic design heritage and excellent quality of construction.

The guide prices quoted on the product pages are for bespoke restoration in a fabric of your choice with a fixed back and buttons, and all our prices include VAT & free delivery to most parts of mainland UK.

We ask for a 30% deposit to secure your bespoke piece.

We have new stock arriving every 6-8 weeks and are always happy to try and source pieces for customers if none of the current frames we have quite hits the spot, or you have a particular design or size in mind. Our Archive is an excellent guide to the sorts of designs which come through the door.

Our pieces are always vetted prior to refurbishment and we only restore frames which are strong, sturdy and in excellent vintage condition.

Whilst visiting in person may not be possible at this time we are always very happy to set up remote visits by video or catch up on the phone about different pieces and options, (we’ve even mapped out our customers living rooms at our studio on occasion to help give a sense of space and scale!) Just drop us a line as we are always happy to help.

Once you have found a frame you love, (or have a few possibilities you’d like to explore), the next wonderful dilemma is fabric!

FABRIC OPTIONS

The world really os your oyster when it comes to fabric

We are proud of the links we have with many of the best British fabrics brands as well as individual textile designers such as Newton Paisley. It allows us to offer you a wide and eclectic range of fabric options for your bespoke piece.

You can find details and links to all the fabric ranges we stock on our Our Fabrics page. The different ranges are organised within price bands and you can find the guide prices for the different bands on the product pages for each frame.

Our ‘standard’ fabric range is Band 2 and this includes many of the wools we use on our own ready restored pieces and some of our velvets and wool/linen mixes as well.

Once you have an idea of the colours/tones you like we can send you a range of swatches to consider and are happy to discuss possibilities and offer guidance.  We always advise customers to look at fabrics in the space where the sofa or armchair will sit as different light can make a big difference.

Our Archive is also an excellent source of fabric inspiration!

All of the upholstery materials and fabrics we use meet UK Fire Retardancy Regulations for domestic use as a minimum. We can also specify Crib 5 fabrics if a piece is going into a public place or business.

The next stage is styling & restoration..

STYLING & RESTORATION

There are many ways of making a bespoke piece truly unique and different frames can suit different treatments. Contrast buttons, back cushions and piping are all possibilities with our bespoke service and we are always happy to make recommendation and guide you through the options.

Sometimes a different specification, such as piping in a contrast fabric or back cushions, can affect the overall price but we will always let you know about any cost implications in advance.

We use modern upholstery materials in our restoration process but can also offer reupholstery using natural materials only, with seat cushion interiors which are a blend of latex, coir, flax, hair and wool. Just drop us a line for more information and we would be happy to quote for you.

Once fabric and styling have been agreed we can book your piece in for restoration and confirm timescales and delivery arrangements.

Following restoration we will forward photographs for approval and once everything is signed off the balance is then due prior to the piece being wrapped for delivery by one of our trusted couriers.

We always advise customers to read through our bespoke Terms and Conditions prior to proceeding as they differ slightly from our standard Terms and Conditions as we are creating a bespoke piece just for you.

DELIVERY

Our bespoke prices include free delivery to most parts of mainland UK subject to our Inclusive Delivery Service T&Cs

We use trusted couriers we have worked with for years and who we know will take good care of our pieces.

We are also trying, where possible, to use reusable furniture bags for our deliveries. It does mean pieces will need to be unwrapped upon delivery so the bags can be returned to us for reuse. But don’t worry if this isn’t convenient we always have an option to wrap pieces in a different way if that’s preferable.

If this all sound like just the ticket or you would like to know more, just drop us a line at contact@stedsans.co.uk

We’d love to know:

  • Which frames might be of interest,
  • Which fabrics have taken your fancy
  • Whether any of the styling options appeal
  • Any queries you might have about the options and or process.

We look forward to hearing from you!

Sit back and enjoy your very own beautiful bespoke Scandinavian sofa…
